The 2025–2026 edition of the online training course Funding the Arts will support cultural organisations in understanding and navigating Erasmus+, a flagship EU programme for education, international cooperation, professional development and innovation.
Why is Erasmus+ relevant to the arts sector?
While widely known for its focus on education, Erasmus+ offers extensive opportunities for the cultural sector, especially for organisations working in arts education, outreach and community engagement, participatory and co-creation practices, and artist training. Erasmus+ Partnerships for Cooperation support transnational projects focused on developing and sharing innovative practices, strengthening networks, and fostering peer learning across Europe.

Case study: From Funding the Arts to a funded project

Birgitte Holt Nielsen, Producer at Figaros (Denmark) took part in the 2023 edition of Funding the Arts alongside fellow RESEO members Companhia de Música Teatral (Portugal) and Compagnia Teatrale L’Albero (Italy). During the course, they developed a successful application for the 15-month collaboration project Artistic Beginnings in Co-creation focused on co-creation and early childhood arts practice.
Running from March 2024 to June 2025, the partnership delivered a series of creative labs across Europe, including i.Lab Mil Pássaros in Loulé, Portugal, Co-creation in Early Childhood in Matera, Italy, and Voices in Co-creation in Ebeltoft, Denmark.
“Funding the Arts gave me the tools and confidence necessary to submit a successful application. Our proposal was successful and we were awarded a grant on our first try despite intense competition. I strongly recommend this training to any organisation with an interest in international cooperation.”
