Bayerische Staatsoper
As the Bavarian State Opera, we not only look back with pride on 350 years of history, but we also strive every day to enrich the cultural landscape far beyond Bavaria with artistic impulses, outstanding productions, and socially relevant discourse. As a three-branch institution, the Bavarian State Opera has its own orchestra—the Bavarian State Orchestra—and a ballet company—the Bavarian State Ballet. Each season, from September to July, more than 40 operas spanning five centuries and over 20 ballets from the 19th century to the present are performed, along with concerts and recitals. With 2,101 seats, our venue, the National Theatre in Munich, is the largest opera house in Germany and is considered one of the most beautiful theaters in Europe.
Aims
Under the direction of General Manager Serge Dorny, the Bavarian State Opera has expanded its community program. The community program of the Bavarian State Opera is aimed at diverse people in and around Munich. Cultural participation, engagement, and communication on equal terms are at the heart of the projects.
Why we’re RESEO members
The Bavarian State Opera places a strong focus on education, outreach, and community and aims to further expand its network across Europe in this area. We are seeking exchange and international co-productions.
