Community Opera in Europe’s Youngest, Most Diverse City

Going for Gold aims to integrate education and community work within the artistic process. Working with volunteers and emerging artists to create large-scale work in extraordinary places, the project will culminate in 2021 in an adaptation of Wagner’s RhineGold celebrating the voices and stories of the people of Birmingham.

“Going For Gold is an avant-garde project about how to integrate cultural rights in the process of making opera.”

Bernard Foccroulle, Chair of the FEDORA Education Prize Jury.
