The Department of Arts Education is based in the Norwegian cities of Bergen, Sogndal and Stord. We cater to several hundred students through a broad portfolio of bachelor, master, one-year and Professional Development study programs in visual arts, drama, music, primary, secondary, community and pre-school education. The Department of Arts Education is situated within the Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. The faculty is one of the largest teacher training institutions in Norway, and has a robust portfolio of educational research initiatives.

The Global Science Opera (GSO) is the first opera initiative in history to envision, produce and perform operas as a global community.

The Global Science Opera (GSO) and Write a Science Opera (WASO) initiatives have been enriched through their belonging to a high-level opera, music and dance education network such as RESEO.
